IT’S A BOOK, IT’S A MOVIE, IT’S A TV SHOW - IT’S AN EMPIRE!!
As Iyanla would say, “You gotta have a vision. The vision will carry you through.”
For me, visions are like road maps — doesn’t mean you stay on the course you originally planned but if you keep your destination in mind - you’ll eventually get there.
At least that’s what we’re hoping.
And in keeping with our vision of an Empire, we’ve come up with our next big project that we’re VERY excited about.
It all started when we were asked to do a reading of our book as part of a fundraiser for some women’s causes (which we eventually will) but it was that suggestion that gave us the idea for our next vidlit series, WHAT WAS I THINKING: 58 ‘OMG I’m Gay’ Stories.
It addition to the vidlits, is our hope to e-publish them and to stage these pieces as a play in order to raise money to fight for gay civil rights on a federal level. Specifically marriage.
But first we need stories. We are looking for personal essays from gays and lesbians about that moment when no matter how ‘normal’ you tried to act or feel you realized you weren’t. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean your “coming out” moment but rather when logic, common sense and simple self-respect won out over the need to be like (and, possibly, liked by) everyone else.
If you draw - draw your story. If you write - write your story. If you sing - sing us your story. And not to worry - if you’re NOT gay, we’re sure you know SOMEONE who is, so just pass this on to them.
They can submit them to: wwitbook@gmail.com
And as always, email us with any questions.
